Important safety precautions
Read – Consult a suitable service manual for the proper replacement procedure.
Connect – Retrieve and record any diagnostic trouble codes. (CONSULT OWNER’S MANUAL)
Disconnect – Negative (black) Cable First.
Step 1) Pre-Installation Checklist
AIR FILTER, DUCTING & CHARGE COOLER:
Check filter, ducting and charge cooler for dirt, debris and oil residue – Clean or replace. Check ducting and charge cooler for leaks, detoriation, cracks, and swelling. Repair or replace as needed.
Check ducting and charge cooler to be sure they are properly located and secured.
Step 2) Pre-Installation Checklist
EXHAUST AND CONNECTIONS:
Check exhaust from engine to turbo for leaks, cracks or restrictions – repair or replace as needed. Check all wires and hoses attached to the turbo for correct location, material detorioration, and proper connection. Repair or replace as needed. Check all oil and coolant lines for detorioration or leaks – repair or replace as needed.
Step 3) Pre-Installation Checklist
ENGINE AND TURBO:
Check that the engine has been operating properly. No overheating, fuel or combustion chamber related issues. Check engine oil for metal debris or other contamination that could indicate engine problems or cause of turbo failure. Check engine air and exhaust emission devices for proper function. Review, correct and or delete stored engine codes related to the turbo system.
Step 4) Post-Installation Checklist
OIL SUPPLY:
Perform an engine oil and filter change. If equipped, check the screen in the high pressure oil supply feed to the turbo for sludge blockage. Clean or replace. Flush or replace both the high pressure oil feed and oil return drain line according to the manufacture’s instructions.
Step 5) Post-Installation Checklist
START UP PROCEDURE:
Install turbo, ducting, filtration and oil return drain line. Caution: it is not recommended to use liquid gasket or sealants when installing the turbo.* Prior to connecting the high pressure oil supply line onto the turbo, inject oil (supplied oil syringe) into the opening. Connect the supply line. After installation is complete, allow engine to idle for 3-5 minutes. Do not increase RPM at this time. Engine oil needs to circulate into the turbo for proper lubrication and function.
